Bhubaneswar, Oct 17 (IANS) Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on Friday encouraged media professionals to actively promote welfare schemes of both the Central and state governments on their platforms, which will help more people become aware of the benefits.

He was interacting with representatives of media organizations at the New Abhishek Hall located in the Raj Bhavan complex.

Highlighting major government social welfare schemes, the Governor said, “Many citizens are still unaware of these schemes. If the media highlights them, it can increase public awareness and help more people access these benefits.”

He emphasized that these schemes play an important role in improving the lives of citizens by providing financial security, social security and support for future needs.

Greater awareness can enable more people to benefit from insurance, pension and savings programs for their children, which will ultimately lead to stability and well-being among families in the state.

“The media can explain these welfare initiatives to the public, ensuring that more citizens take advantage of them,” Kambhampati said.

During the interaction, the Governor also discussed with the media professionals a number of issues of the state, including tribal development, education, infrastructure, rural development, migration, safety of media professionals and other key matters affecting Odisha.

Expressing confidence in Odisha’s ability to achieve developed state status by 2036, he talked about the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Kambhampati highlighted the upcoming projects of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Indian Railways which are expected to boost investment and development in the state.

He also mentioned the proposed semiconductor projects and investment proposals received during the Utkarsh Odisha initiative, saying, “I see no reason why Odisha cannot become a developed state by 2036.”

Emphasizing the importance of self-reliance, he cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India and urged all departments to focus on meeting the needs of the people.

On the issue of crime, the Governor stressed that the society as a whole should be sensitized to prevent crimes.

“We all have a responsibility,” he said, also highlighting the importance of skill development in tackling migration challenges.
