This is a unique story about the best and purest taste of India in the world. This flavor is now the pride of not only Indian kitchens but also many home kitchens around the world. MDH Masala has been a success for over a hundred years. During this time, this spice has won countless hearts and accolades. It is also known for its quality.
The secret to the success of MDH products is their purity and quality. That’s why it’s one of the best spices in the world. Speaking of purity, take this as an example. MDH is the only spice company that removes the stems of chillies (and uses stemless chillies) before grinding so that the chillies reach consumers in India and around the world in their purest form.
maintain standards
The cumin used in MDH spices is also of high quality. Turmeric and other spices are extensively tested for quality. While making the spices, great care is taken keeping in mind that their customers are all over the world.
MDH was established in 1919 in Sialkot (now part of Pakistan). Mr. Chunni Lal Gulati first opened a shop here selling spices. And named it “Mahasheyan Di Hatti”. Its business gradually spread across the country. He betrayed the people’s trust. Now, his descendant Rajiv Gulati continues the legacy as chairman of the group.
MDH is also at the forefront of advertising. The first television commercial for spices was produced by MDH. This was the first fragrance company and the first print advertisement.
Build 5 state-of-the-art factories
MDH Sdn Bhd has established 5 state-of-the-art factories to cater to the growing demand. The company purchases raw materials directly from production centers to maintain uniform taste and quality. Raw materials are tested on special types of machines. It then goes through several stages of preparation. Fully automatic machines are installed for this process.
It once started with packaging of hand-ground spices. But the company started using automated machines to meet the rapidly growing demand for spices. Today, spices worth crores of rupees are manufactured and packaged on modern machines and sold domestically and internationally through a network of over 1,000 stockists and over 4 lakh retail dealers.
MDH has received many awards from time to time. To name a few, ITID Quality Excellence Award, Arc of Europe Quality Excellence Award and Dadabhai Naoroji Award. In 2019, Mahashay Dharampal Gulati was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s third highest civilian honor.
Social attention is also leading
MDH is also known for its social concerns. Mahashay Dharampal once said that 90% of his salary was donated to charity. He established a hospital with more than 300 beds and built more than 20 schools. In his act of kindness in April 2020, he donated 7,500 sets of personal protective equipment to healthcare workers fighting COVID-19, and Rajiv Gulati is taking this noble cause forward.
Today, MDH spices are popular not just in India but across the world. The company’s products are exported to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates. And exported to Saudi Arabia and other places. The company has offices in London and a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Sharjah.
