New Delhi, September 21 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people on the occasion of Mahalya on Sunday, which is celebrated before the start of Durga Puja.
He said on X, “Happy Shubo Mahalya! As near the holy days of Durga Puja, our lives can be filled with light and purpose. Mother Durga’s divine blessings can bring unwavering strength, permanent bliss and amazing health.”
Mahalya is seen at the conclusion of ‘Shrad’ or ‘Pitu Paksha’, during a 16-day period, during which Hindus respect their ancestors, and reflect the onset of Durga Puja festivals.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also took on social media to wish people. He wrote, “Awakened Durga, Awake, Carriers of Ten Weapons.”
He said, “On the occasion of Tan, Agomoni and Abhaan, I wish my heartfelt Mahalya.
In the Mahalaya Devi side, the 10-day festival of Goddess Durga which ends in Durga Puja. This demon indicates the arrival of Goddess Durga on earth to defeat King Mahishasura. It is an auspicious day that symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
In West Bengal, the day is marked by the pre-broadcast of ‘Mahishasura Mardini’, a program of hymns and mantras that invite the goddess, and listening to it is a fundamental tradition for all.
Thousands of people in West Bengal show the beginning of the festive season with Durga Puja. The day started, people honored their ancestors to their ancestors on the banks of the Hooghly River and other water bodies across the state.
