Jammu, September 18 (IANS) Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra resumed in Jammu and Kashmir (Jammu) Rasi district on Thursday, which temporarily stayed due to temporary weather on Wednesday.
The journey was resumed on September 17 after 22 days, but was re -suspended in the area with bad weather.
Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) officials said on Thursday that as soon as all the facilities were functional, the pilgrims moved from the base camp to the pilgrimage site.
Earlier, the journey was suspended on 26 August due to bad weather. On the same day after the suspension of the journey, a landslide hit a shelter on the route, killing pilgrims to kill pilgrims who took refuge there.
SMVDSB officials said that all services were functional for Yatris and helicopter service has also been resumed.
Earlier, due to the fog in the area, the helicopter service was suspended in a moment, but SMVDSB officials said that the same was starting as the weather improvement.
After several days on Thursday, there was a jubilee among traders at Yatris and Katra Base Camp Town of the Shrine for life.
Today, more than 3,500 pilgrims paid orders in the temple of Vaishno Devi and a stable flow of devotees has been seen since morning.
Officials have ensured smooth arrangements for registration, security, housing and other facilities for the journey.
SMVDSB officials appealed to Yatris to cooperate with guidelines and weather advice to ensure a safe and hassle -free pilgrimage.
The journey started at 6 am today after the weather situation and the necessary maintenance of the track leading to the pilgrimage site.
The Shrine Board hopes that there are a large number of devotees in the coming days as the Navratri festival starts from 22 September and will continue till 1 October.
A Shrine Board officer at the registration counter where the pilgrims registers themselves and receives RFID card, said, “The resumption of the journey reinforces our collective trust and flexibility. The board is committed to maintaining the sanctity, security and dignity of this pilgrimage.”
The Shrine Board had decided to resume the journey on 14 September, but continuous rains motivated it to expand the suspension period by 17 September.
