Apple is expected to update its iPad Pro and iPad Air models. Over the past few months, several leaks and reports about alleged tablets have surfaced online. The new iPad Pro and iPad Air are expected to feature larger displays and new chipsets. Recent leaks indicate that Apple will launch these iPad models in April. However, a new report now suggests that the launch of the next-generation iPad Pro and iPad Air has been delayed further.
in a ReportBloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple may launch its highly anticipated iPad Pro and iPad Air models in early May, about a month ahead of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is scheduled to open on June 10. He added that Apple suppliers are currently pushing forward production of expected iPad models.
An earlier report from Gurman said the products could launch in late March or April. Gurman now says the delay is due to “software work on the device” and “complex new manufacturing techniques” for the new display the model is expected to feature.
According to reports, the four new iPad Pro models, codenamed J717, J718, J720 and J721, are expected to use Apple’s new M3 chipset and are said to support “redesigned Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil versions.”
Apple has also reportedly been working on adopting OLED screens on upcoming iPad models. The iPad Air currently only has a 10.9-inch size, but is also expected to have a 12.9-inch display. The next-generation iPad Air model is expected to be powered by the M2 chipset and may also feature a horizontal front-facing camera.
Meanwhile, another recent leak suggests that the upcoming iPad Pro models will have thinner bezels and will be available in “glossy and matte screen versions.” One tipster claims that the 11-inch model has 7.12mm bezels, while the 12.9-inch model has 7.08mm bezels, which are 10% and 15% smaller respectively compared to the 2022 models.
