A man who forgot to cancel his lottery direct debit When his fiancée asked him to save money for their wedding he won £125,000.
James Adams was asked by his bride-to-be Ruhanna Coulthard to cancel his event postcode lottery Entry three months ago – but thankfully, the urge to save money was put out of his mind.
The 31-year-old motion graphic designer said: “I was going to stop doing this three months ago, then forgot. Thank God for being lazy and really stupid. Incompetence pays!”
Rohana, who started screaming when the check appeared, said: “James never told me he signed up and when I saw him go out I asked him to cancel the direct debit because we were saving for the wedding.
“Thank God he didn’t do that. I wouldn’t have been able to perform very well and.” [would] Probably not very good.”
She laughed: “But here we are. I forgive him.”

One of his neighbors, bride-to-be Gemma Marson-May, had a premonition that he would receive an award that summer.
“I had a strong feeling I was going to win, so I signed up in August,” she said.
“I felt like the postcode would win in September. I’m only really a week out, so it’s worked out great.

“It sounds like bullshit, but something told me I’d be stupid if I didn’t sign up. When I went to join, I thought about quitting, but I thought I’d be kicking myself if I didn’t.”
Another winner said that the win has brought a smile back on his face after years of tough health battles.
Steve Hooper underwent a triple bypass nine years ago and is currently being monitored after treatment for bladder cancer.
The motor insurance claims handler said: “I have been living with cancer for the last four years. It could kill me, but I’m still smiling.”
“I go for check-ups every three months. I also had a triple bypass. But this has brought a big smile to my face and it will bring smiles to the faces of many other people I know.”
