A rape victim and her brother were attacked with sharp weapons by the alleged rapist and his two associates in Rajasthan’s Kotputli-Behror district on Saturday.
The victim, who was returning home on a two-wheeler with her brother, was also shot in her spine by the accused and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jaipur. The attack took place just 20 meters away from the police station in Pragpura village.
Before fleeing the spot, the three men attacked the woman and her brother with an axe-like weapon. The survivor suffered multiple injuries to his head, legs, arms and shoulders.
According to the police, both the associates Mahipal Gurjar and Rahul Gurjar have been arrested. Adding a scary twist to the story, Yadav was later found at SMS Hospital in Jaipur with serious injuries. Police said it was not clear whether the injuries were caused by an accident or a suicide attempt.
Reports suggest that Yadav may have come in front of a train, resulting in one of his legs being amputated.
The 24-year-old rape victim had filed a case against accused Rajendra Yadav in June 2023. Yadav was arrested at that time and later lost his job. Recently released on bail, he started threatening the victim to withdraw the case. The FIR reveals that the recent attack was in retaliation for his refusal to do so.
Yadav allegedly posted photographs with local politicians on social media, raising questions over links between criminals and persons in power.
