one murder investigation ongoing after a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death on New Year’s Eve London.
Police were called to Grove Street in Lewisham, south-east London, at around 12.35pm.
The Metropolitan Police said a man was stabbed in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made and the crime scene remains. London Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service also responded.
Detective Chief Inspector Sam Townsend, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our deepest sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
“Our investigation is progressing rapidly and we are working hard to establish the full circumstances of this tragic incident.
“We know this will cause understandable concern for the local community.
“Please be assured that we have increased patrols in the area and this investigation remains our priority.”
The victim’s family have been briefed and are being supported by specialist officers.
