Man stabbed on London train with ‘life-threatening’ injuries

A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed on a train in south London.

British Transport Police (BTP) said it received reports of a fight between two men as they boarded a train at Shortlands station in Bromley at around 4pm on Wednesday.

Video shared on social media shows a man wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants and a face mask holding a large blade, while distressed bystanders can be heard telling him to stop.

Police attended Beckenham Junction along with colleagues from the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing, BTP added.

Train services were disrupted in the area until around 6.30pm as police continued to deal with the incident.

A spokesman for Southeastern Trains said: “We are aware of a serious incident on one of our trains this afternoon. We are urgently assisting British Transport Police and urge anyone with any information to contact them immediately.

“All our trains are equipped with CCTV and we will provide this footage to British Transport Police to assist their investigations.

“We also have an integrated assurance team, made up of colleagues from Southeastern, BTP and Network Rail, and we are already working together to find those responsible.”
