An ‘overwhelmed’ Canadian man has decided to donate his 300 cats and kittens to charity after years of caring for them. protector the report said.
Bruce Robinson asked an animal welfare charity to take away his cats because of their high numbers and costs.
Robinson said he “ended up in a crazy situation” after making the “bad decision” to care for abandoned cats during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He spends thousands of dollars every month to ensure the cats have 28 kilograms of food every day, sometimes without food himself.
He said he loved them all equally and gave them names.
According to the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), the cats are in good condition and are very sociable.
“You know, he had a big heart and he cared about them,” SPCA staff member Eileen Drever said.
The SPCA is working hard to raise funds and find a suitable home to gift the cats.
In the meantime, the charity is looking after the cats’ food and supply needs.
“We are not considering charges against the cat’s guardian because he was the one who came to the cat for help,” Drever said.
