Man impersonates senior J&K police officer to call and demand money: Police

Police said the man demanded money from his co-workers.

Srinagar:

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday asked people to be vigilant against people impersonating Police Commissioner RR Swain and demanding money over the phone.

Police said they were working to identify the man and take legal action.

“This is to convey a message to other police officers, other government services, colleagues of the department and the general public that a fraudster (identity being identified) is using mobile number 8891979985 and impersonating Sh RR Swain DGP J&K,” Jammu and Kashmir Police wrote on X.

“This fraudster solicited money from various people, including fellow police officers who he believed may have fallen into his trap. While legal action is being taken in accordance with the law, friends, colleagues and even relatives are asked to be wary of this individual and do not expect anyone like this in the future People,” it added.
