Jaipur, Oct 31 (IANS) The vigilance of security agencies along the India-Pakistan International Border has once again come to the fore after the Border Security Force (BSF) caught a suspicious person in Murar border area of Jaisalmer during routine patrolling.
According to sources, the person has been identified as Mohammad Iqbal (40), a resident of Araria district of Bihar.
BSF jawans stopped him late on Thursday night after noticing his suspicious activities near the border. During preliminary interrogation, Iqbal reportedly failed to give any concrete reason for his presence in Jaisalmer and his approach towards the International Border.
After initial questioning, BSF handed him over to Shahgarh police for further investigation. Police and intelligence agencies are now investigating the circumstances that led Iqbal to the border area. Sources said that no illegal items were recovered during the initial investigation, but his intentions are suspicious.
After local questioning, he will be handed over to a Joint Investigation Committee (JIC) for detailed questioning, which will involve multiple security agencies.
Authorities further said that after being detained, Iqbal began behaving erratically and “crazy”, raising further questions about his mental state and motives.
To prevent such incidents, BSF has intensified patrolling on sensitive parts of Jaisalmer border. Security forces are keeping a strict vigil against any unidentified person seen roaming near the international border.
