Man allegedly beaten and forced to drink urine after eloping with married woman

Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh:

A man was allegedly beaten, forced to drink urine and wear shoe rings after he eloped with a married woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district, prompting police to take action over the incident.

Police said some videos of the incident have surfaced on social media, but so far the man has not lodged a complaint.

In one of the videos, the man wearing shoe rings is seen drinking liquid, believed to be urine, from a bottle as some people yell at him and force him to drink it. He was also seen being beaten by the woman he allegedly eloped with.

Another video shows the man licking a slipper from his hand and being forced to put another slipper on his head.

In the video, half of the man’s beard and part of his head were shaved off.

When asked about the matter, Deputy Superintendent of Police Nitesh Bhargava told reporters that they were aware of the video clips from three to four days ago and contacted the victim.

“After the videos were brought to police attention, we proactively contacted the victim’s home, but he was not home,” he said.

“I have spoken to the victim on phone and he will meet me. Legal action will be taken after verifying the accused and the location of the incident,” he said.

As for the reason behind the incident, the official said that it is not yet clear and will be confirmed after talking to the victim.
