Mumbai:
A man was beaten by passengers for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old girl on a suburban train in Mumbai, a police official said on Monday.
Bandra Railway Police officials said the incident took place on Saturday night when the train was traveling between Dadar and Andheri on the Western Line and the accused has been identified as Noor Aha, a resident of Kamathipura. Noor Ahmed Sagir Ahmed (34).
He said: “He was detained on Monday. The girl, who was with her father, realized Ahmed had touched her inappropriately. After she raised the alarm, the passenger assaulted Ahmed and handed him over to Aetna The police at the train station.”
“Ahmed was admitted to Cooper Hospital after being beaten. He had been arrested earlier for committing such an offence. He was on drugs. The victim, who was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Parel when the incident took place, had taken Da Dar-Borivali visited the facility for training,” the official said.
He said Ahmed was charged with obscenity and other offenses under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
