One person has been arrested Suspect of murder of 13 year old girl Three decades after his disappearance.
Lindsey Rimmer was 13 years old when she went missing Hebden Bridge In November 1994; She left her house to buy a packet of cornflakes from SPAR Supermarket In Crown Street.
While he was initially suspected of being a runaway, his body was found in April 1995 by two canal workers in the Rochdale Canal at Rawden Mill Lock, about a mile from the center of Hebden Bridge.
detective Police from West Yorkshire arrested a man on Monday morning from an undisclosed prison in Britain, where he is serving a sentence for other crimes.
The suspect is being interrogated during Monday and Tuesday. The force said it is expected that he will be granted bail and returned to jail while the investigation continues.
Officers have also contacted a number of specific potential witnesses in Hebden Bridge and the wider Halifax area who were identified by the investigation.
The senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, said: “We are firmly committed to doing everything possible to bring justice to Lindsay and to give her family the answers they so desperately need after so many years.
“The arrests we have made today have resulted from our continued focus on progressing the investigation. We are keeping Lindsay’s family updated and, while we appreciate the understandable public interest generated by today’s arrest, we do not anticipate any immediate developments at this stage.
“Although it has now been over thirty years since Lindsay was murdered, we are confident that there is someone out there with significant Information This may ultimately help ease her family’s pain, and we urge them to do the right thing and tell us what they know.
