Man arrested after a vehicle crashes through the door in front of the RCMP office in Montreal

A person is subjected to arrest after a vehicle, which passes through the front door of the RCMP headquarters on Saturday morning, west of the downtown in the Montreal suburb of Westmount.

No one was injured inside the building and the Montreal police said the suspect had mental health issues and was probably in crisis. Police said that terrorism is not considered a factor in the case.

Const. Jean-Pire Brabant said that a 44-year-old man was arrested at around 8:25 pm after a low speed, which the police described “deliberately” and suffered a lot of damage at the front door.

“We are not talking about a high speed collision, but he slowly went into the entrance and broke two windows of entry,” Brabant said. Only the front of the vehicle was inside the building.

The suspect was rushed to the hospital with minor injuries and the investigators would meet him when they are capable.

Police said that according to preliminary information, the man had first approached the building on foot and allegedly returned to some point with his vehicle.

Two RCMP officials were inside the building when the vehicle was entered, but they were doing untoward.

The building is the Quebec Divisional Headquarters for the Federal Police Force and is ranked on the Dorchester Bulward since 1920.

RCMP’s Quebec Division referred to the Montreal Police all questions about the incident.

This is the second incident in the RCMP office this week. On Monday, the authorities shot a person in the parking lot of Strathankona detection in Sherwood Park, Alta. Outside of Edmonton, after allegedly noticed what appeared as a gun.
