Mexico City, Mexico:
A man stabbed two women to death Wednesday at a university in the western Mexican city of Guadalajara, a state prosecutor said.
The attacker is described as a man in his 20s.
Jalisco state prosecutor Luis Joaquin Mendez said he stormed into the UTEG University Center campus armed with a knife and an ax and smashed several windows with the knife and ax.
The attack was “without any justification or apparent motive,” prosecutors said, adding that the attacker’s “aggressive behavior was directed at the first person he saw.”
A man was also injured in the attack.
Police have arrested the attacker and are investigating his links to another woman who was found dead in a hotel on the same day.
According to official figures, there were at least 852 cases of femicide in the violent country last year.
