Man accused of shooting into facility New Hampshire The September country club man has been charged with murder, attempted murder and assault, authorities said Thursday.
Hunter Nadeau, 24, NashuaHe is accused of killing one person and injuring two others at Sky Meadow Country Club on September 20 while a wedding reception was being held nearby. He was initially charged with second-degree murder, but an indictment unsealed Thursday showed he was charged with first- and second-degree murder, as well as attempted murder and assault.
Authorities declined to discuss a possible motive for the shooting but said they did not believe the victim was targeted by Nadeau, who worked at the Nashua club and was arrested shortly after the shooting. A message was left with his attorney Thursday.
police Restaurant patrons reacted quickly amid the chaos, with witnesses saying someone attacked the gunman with a stool to help subdue him. Charlene DeCesare, whose husband, Robert DeCesare Jr., was killed, said he was shot while protecting her and the couple’s daughter. The shooting also injured restaurant manager Steven Burtman and customer Brianna Surette.
Nadeau was accused of pushing a grocery store manager to the ground in April and was charged with simple assault, according to court documents. The two sides agreed in September that misdemeanor charges would be filed and dismissed if Nadeau showed good behavior.
Chef Dave Manganello said he met Nadeau several years ago when he worked as a banquet server at the club. In a September interview, he described Nadeau as bordering on arrogance but said he did not believe he was capable of committing violent crimes.
“He wasn’t as sweet as a pie and he wasn’t the nicest guy you’d ever meet,” Manganello said.
