Mamta Banerjee convicted private power distribution utility for 7 electrocution deaths

Kolkata on Tuesday for seven electrocution deaths in Kolkata, 23 September (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee convicted private power generation-distribution utility, CESC Limited.

During the night rains, there were deaths due to electric wires submerged in the flood waters accumulated in the city pockets.

The Chief Minister reacted a part of the media to the deaths from electrocution, saying, “CESC should take responsibility for such deaths. They should immediately deploy their people on an emergency basis to prevent recurrence of similar tragedies.”

In addition to power generation, Sanjeev Goenka, owned by Sanjeev Goenka, is responsible for electricity distribution in the districts around Kolkata and Howrah, and for these two districts, the unit enjoys total distribution monopoly.

Starting a scary attack against private power generation-cum-distribution utility, the Chief Minister said that it was unfortunate that CESC would benefit from West Bengal and the infrastructure in Rajasthan would engage in modernization activities. He also said that despite his repeated reminder, the CESC management did not focus on modernization activities in West Bengal.

He also said that it is the moral responsibility of CESC management to provide employment to at least one member from the families of each of the victims of each electrocution. However, at the time when the report was filed, there was no response from the CESC management on the Chief Minister’s comments on the matter.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister urged the people of Kolkata and nearby areas to avoid coming out of their homes as far as possible during the day. The Chief Minister said, “I request private companies not to cut the leaves of employees who will not be able to participate in the office on Tuesday. I request them to request to see the matter from the human angle.”
