Arun Jain, 24/01/2025

Former Bollywood actor Mamta Kulkarni is currently on a spiritual journey, at Maha Kumbh 2025.

She is currently in Prayagraj for the auspicious ceremony of the Mauni Amavasya Snan on January 29, 2025. The actress had also shared a video discussing her pilgrimage plans.

As per a video shared by PTI, a few minutes back, she has been consecrated as a Hindu nun under the Kinnar Akhara. She performed her own ‘Pind Daan’ and will be consecrated as ‘Mahamandaleshwar.’

To those unaware, the Kinnara Akhara was established by eunuchs and its functions take place under the Juna Akhara.

Kulkarni took a holy dip in Sangam.

Kinnar Akhara’s Mahamandaleshwar Kaushalya Nand Giri alias Tina Maa, also told PTI that the actress performed her Pind Daan, all by herself. It took place on the banks of River Ganga on Friday.

The actress had earlier shared a video on her Instagram feed, stating that after completing her rituals in Prayagraj, she will visit Varanasi for darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

She also had plans to go to Ayodhya.

The actress has earlier shared that her journey out of India began in 2000, and in 2024, she was finally back.

Mamta had earlier mentioned about how emotional it made her to land in India after two decades.

In the video caption, Mamta had written, “BACK TO MY MOTHERLAND AFTER 25 YEARS. ATTENDED KUMBH MELA 2012, AFTER 12 YEARS AUSTERITY AND CAME BACK EXACTLY AFTER 12 YEARS FOR ANOTHER MAHA KUMBH 2025.”

In an old interaction with IANS, Mamta had also spoken about why she left Bollywood.

She had said, “The reason for me leaving India was spirituality. In 1996, I got inclined towards spirituality and during that time I met Guru Gagan Giri Maharaj. After his arrival, my interest in spirituality increased following which my penance started. However, I believe that Bollywood gave me a name and also fame. After this, I quit Bollywood too. From the year 2000 to 2012, I kept doing penance. I was in Dubai for many years, where I lived in a two-bedroom flat and remained celibate for 12 years.”

To those unaware, Mamta Kulkarni has given several Bollywood and South hits. Some of her hit films include Aashiq Awara (1993), Krantiveer (1994), and Karan Arjun (1995), to name a few.
