Poonch: A major ration distribution scam has been detected in the Dhara block of Satra Tehsil, District Mandi, the members and residents of the concerned panchayat contacted Honorable MLA Poonch, Mr. Ajaz Jaan with serious allegations of ration irregularities.
Responding to public concerns, MLA Ajaz Jan made a surprising inspection of Dhara Panchayat Food Store. During his visit, he discovered dangerous anomalies in the ration supply. Ration stock, officially marked for delivery before 10 May 2025, was given only on 24 May with an invoice only on 24 May – increasing the suspicion of manipulation and fraud.
There were less weight ration bags about even more. Instead of a 50 kg mandate, the weight of the bag was between 38 and 44 kg, pointing to a large -scale scam that can seriously affect the poverty line (BPL) families who rely on the government’s aid.
After hearing the statements from the store dealer and local residents, MLA JAN immediately approached the Minister’s Office, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch, Superintendent of Police (SP) Poonch, and Assistant Director, CAPD Poonch. After the alert, DDC Poonch ordered an official inquiry, in which Tehsildar (Magistrate) Mandi and the show Mandi were sent to the site.
In the presence of officials, food reserves were thoroughly investigated. All ration bags were weighed and the delivery records were examined. As a result, the store was sealed and several ration bags were seized and sent to the police station mandi for further investigation.
MLA Ajaz Jan has instructed the officials to initiate strict legal proceedings and file an FIR against all the persons involved in the fraud. He has assured the people of Dhara Panchayat and the comprehensive Haveli constituency that he will personally monitor the ration store to implement transparency and fairness in public distribution.
Local residents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the MLA people and the district administration for Swift and decisive action to protect the rights of duly.
