The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a 39-year-old man for trying to stab the principal of Dombivli school in Maharashtra’s Thane district multiple times, an official said on Wednesday.
He said the incident happened on Monday afternoon.
Senior Inspector Kiran Undre of Dombivil GRP said the accused Shakil Humayun Sheikh caught the 56-year-old victim while he was walking along the railway tracks near Kharbao railway station and asked him why he did not complete the service. His wife was in the same institution in Bhiwandi Records of school work.
“The victim told the accused that her service book was lost. His reply angered the accused who then took out a knife and stabbed him several times, causing him serious injuries. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, He is currently undergoing treatment in hospital, he said.
Based on a complaint filed by a victim in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Kalyan, police registered a case under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 323 (intentionally causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
The local police are conducting further investigation into this crime.
