State Women and Child Development Minister Aditi S Tatkare said in a social media post that many eligible women were unable to complete the verification process due to these hurdles.
He said the government took the situation into “extreme seriousness” consideration before approving the expansion.
State launches mandatory e-KYC Lakhs of suspicious entries were flagged after initial investigation, including instances where male beneficiaries were listed. Officials said the verification drive is aimed at ensuring that only eligible women continue to receive monthly assistance under the scheme. Women who miss the revised deadline risk a temporary halt in the ₹1,500 monthly transfer.
Aadhaar-based authentication is mandatory, and payments will resume as soon as the verification is updated.
Tatkare also announced that the October installment will be released from Wednesday (November 19) and will be directly credited into the Aadhaar linked bank accounts of verified beneficiaries.
Launched in June 2024, the scheme provides monthly assistance to women aged 21-65 years whose annual family income is less than ₹2.5 lakh. Beneficiaries should not be enrolled in other state welfare schemes and must have an Aadhaar linked bank account.
