Mumbai, October 6 (IANS) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday that the state government has formed a committee to formulate a policy for green steel industries.
“Maharashtra is leading the country in the field of solar panel construction. Due to adequate work being done in the region, a large ‘green ecosystem’ is being made. Since Green Steel is a new area, a committee is being formed to formulate a policy about green steel,” he announced to preside over the 13th meeting of the cabinet sub-committee.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Industry Minister Dr. Uday Samanta, and Industry Secretary P Anbalagan was one of the people present in the meeting.
He was announced a few days after the government’s move to develop Gadchiroli as a steel city.
Fadnavis said that funds have been provided under the collective incentive scheme for large and ultra-big industries in agriculture and food processing sector.
In view of the impact of changes in global tax structure on textile industry in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, electricity tariff concessions will not be deducted from industrial subsidy. In addition, provisions related to captive procedure vendors will be revised to classified areas of Vidarbha and Marathwada.
He further stated that since Khed taluka in Pune district is classified as “A” and “C” classified taluka regions, a decision was taken at the cabinet sub-committee meeting, which is to implement the benefits of “C”, which is for Infrastructure PVT Limited and Khed Developers Limited M/S O Mobility PVTD.
He said, “About 90 percent of women are employed in this company, and this company has appointed workers in Pune district. Therefore, the decision to give this company the status of a major project was taken in the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting,” he said.
He also directed that the committee appointed about Green Steel should consider the issue of encouraging projects under the Thrust Sector Policy.
CM’s announcement is important as he recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and plans him to develop the state government as a new steel city in India, and also about promoting green steel production there. He also performed PM Modi at the Maharashtra Defense Corridor.
“I brought to the attention of the Prime Minister that an ecosystem of defense building is being created in Maharashtra, which will promote defense building, benefit the economy and build employment. I have shown that this corridor can be done in three places. The first part of it can be done in Pune, Ahilnagar and Chhatrapati Samvajinagar. He said.
He also presented a road map on the Maharashtra Defense Corridor.
