Maccabi Tel Aviv has said that it will refuse any tickets given to its fans for the Europa League match at Villa Park.
The Israeli club said in a statement that the “toxic atmosphere” had put the safety of fans wishing to attend “in great doubt”.
“The well-being and safety of our fans is paramount and with hard lessons learned, we have taken the decision to decline any allocations offered on behalf of away fans and our decision should be understood in that context.
“We are hopeful that circumstances will change and we look forward to being able to play in a sporting environment in Birmingham in the near future.”
