Motorists are facing traffic chaos while part of the M25 is closed after a lorry overturned on the road.
M25 in Surrey The collision caused the anti-clockwise closure between J10 (Cobham) and J9 (Leatherhead), causing a lorry to overturn.
Emergency services, including Surrey Ambulance Service, are in attendance, as a blue lorry is seen in dramatic pictures.
Drivers are asked to expect delays. The National Highways said traffic officials are also at the scene.
It advised motorists to plan in advance and allow extra travel time if they are affected by the closure.
“Plan ahead, you may want to reroute or even delay your travel,” it says.
Traffic is expected to be affected by this incident for several hours, with traffic expected to return to normal between 5:30 and 5:45 pm.
National Highways are predicting delays of up to an hour between J11 and J10.
Surrey Police said: “We are responding to an anti-clockwise collision on the M25 between junctions 10 (#Cobham) and 9 (#Leatherhead). All four lanes are closed at the moment. Please find alternative routes and avoid the area if you can. Thank you for your patience.”
Motorists are advised to follow diversion road signs on the following route:
- Exit the M25 at J10 (Wisley Interchange) at the roundabout and take the first exit onto the A3 towards London.
- Follow the A3 to Tolworth
- Take the exit slip at the A240 Tolworth interchange and take the third exit at the roundabout onto the A240 towards Reigate.
- Continue onto the A24 at Organ Junction
- At the A24 Ewell by-pass roundabout, take the first exit onto the A240 towards Reigate.
- At the A240/A217 Burgh Heath junction, turn right at the traffic signal onto the A217 towards Reigate
- Follow A217 to M25
- M25 Take the first exit at J8 (Reigate Hill Interchange) and rejoin the M25 at J8.
