A private jet and two yachts were seized and three people arrested in a £76m raid on a group running luxury care homes.
Two locations in St Leonards, Dorset, and Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, were raided as part of an investigation by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), with support from the National Crime Agency (NCA).
The subject of this investigation is the Carllauren Group, a British-registered real estate developer, which entered administration in November 2019.
The SFO said the company’s collapse forced some elderly residents to move out and caused heavy losses for 600 investors.
The Carllauren Group has purchased 23 properties across the UK, often former hotels, including Durham’s historic Windlestone Hall, in an attempt to convert the buildings into high-end care homes by allegedly offering investors a 10% annual return .

However, the Office of Securities and Futures said only nine of these had begun operations, with some continuing as hotels rather than nursing homes.
In addition, the group is said to have purchased a number of supercars, including two Lamborghinis and a McLaren 570GT, a private jet and two yachts.
Nick Ephgrave QPM, director of the Serious Fraud Office, said: “The sudden collapse of this company has caused chaos and huge anxiety for many people, with older people being forced to move out of their homes and investors being left with nothing.
“Today’s arrests are a significant development in our investigation and a step toward getting the answers that so many people need.”
The organization is said to have 600 staff and companies are investing in the scheme by buying rooms to rent out to seniors.
It is a luxury facility with swimming pool, room service and other amenities.
According to the SFO, the rooms are advertised and sold with guaranteed annual payments and the opportunity to sell the asset back at a profit after ten years
