Subianto declared victory in the presidential election after unofficial vote counting gave him a significant lead over his rivals, Al Jazeera reported.
The 72-year-old former Special Forces commander had lost the presidential race twice before and had about 58 percent of the vote, according to four pollsters, based on “quick count” ballots at a sample of polling stations across the country.
Prabowo addressed his cheering supporters at a stadium in Jakarta and said he was “grateful” for the quick results.
She was accompanied by her partner Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of outgoing President Joko Widodo.
He said, “We must not be arrogant, we must not be proud, we must not be excited, we still have to be humble, this victory must be the victory of all Indonesians.”
Prabowo was leading the polls thanks to the unequivocal support of Widodo, better known as Jokowi.
