Long queues forming in Dover as Easter holidays begin

Long queues formed in Dover on Good Friday (March 29), with 2.6 million cars expected to travel on the day, kicking off the Easter weekend.

The Port of Dover warned on Friday morning that there would be two-hour delays.

Ferry company DFDS reported delays on its services on Thursday “due to strong winds in the English Channel”, leading to long queues for passengers.

The Spanish-named storm Nelson comes as strong winds hit the resort, with gusts expected to reach 50 mph.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for high winds in London, south-east England, south-west and east England on Friday.
