India’s Lokpal wants to buy seven high-end BMW cars worth around ₹70 lakh and has issued an official tender for the same. CNN-NEWS18 now has a copy of this tender document dated October 16.

Lokpal is currently a seven-member body consisting of a Chairperson and six other members. “The Lokpal of India invites open tenders from reputed agencies for the supply of seven BMW 3 Series 330 Li cars to the Lokpal of India,” the document said. The Essential model is specified in Sport (long wheelbase) and white colour.

The on-road price of the said car in the market is around ₹70 lakh, making the total cost of the seven cars around ₹5 crore. The Lokpal wants these cars to be delivered to its office in Vasant Kunj Institutional Area, Delhi within two weeks, but not later than 30 days, from the date of issue of supply order by the Lokpal.

According to the BMW website, the new BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase was launched in India earlier this year and is the longest car in its segment with the most spacious second seat row. “The most luxurious rear seat experience with the longest wheelbase in the segment,” the BMW website says about this latest car.

The Lokpal of India is a first-of-its-kind institution established under the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act 2013 to investigate and investigate allegations of corruption against public officials falling within the scope of the above Act. The ‘Lokpal’ consists of a Chairperson and eight members, of whom four are judicial members. The salary, allowances and other conditions of service of the Chairperson are the same as that of the Chief Justice of India. The salary, allowances and other conditions of service of the members are the same as that of a Judge of the Supreme Court.

The selected vendor or firm will also be required to conduct a comprehensive practical and theoretical training program for drivers and other designated staff members of the Lokpal of India to ensure efficient, safe and optimal operation of the supplied BMW vehicles, the document said. The training will be conducted for a minimum period of seven days and is to be completed within 15 days from the date of delivery of the vehicles. The exact schedule will be finalized in consultation with the Lokpal of India.
