New Delhi, 5 October (IANS) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Bridgetown, is leading an Indian parliamentary delegation to participate in the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) at Barbados, an official said on Sunday.
The official said in a statement that Lok Sabha Speaker ‘The Commonwealth – A Global Partner’ is scheduled to address the General Assembly from 5 to 12 to 12 October.
During the conference, seven workshops on various subjects will be held. The statement said that the speaker will be presiding over the workshop on ‘Lewerageing Technology: Digital Transformation’ and presiding over the workshop on digital divide ‘.
The Indian Delegation Includes Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Harivansh Narayan Singh; MP (Lok Sabha) and CPA Executive Committee Member Anurag Sharma; MP (Lok Sabha) and CWP Steering Committee Member D. Purandeswari; MP (Lok Sabha) Dr K. Sudhakar; MP (Rajya Sabha) Rekha Sharma; MP (Rajya Sabha) Dr Ajeet Madhavrao Gopchade; Secretary General, Lok Sabha Utpal Kumar Singh and Secretary General, Rajya Sabha Pc Mody.
This annual conference will also be attended by 36 presiding officers and 16 secretaries of 24 states/UT assemblies across India who are also members of CPA.
The meeting of the CPA’s Executive Committee will be held during the conference, in which Anurag Sharma will participate in MP (Lok Sabha), as the CPA treasurer, Bishwajit Demyry, speaker, with Assam Legislative Assembly, who is one of the regional representatives in the CPA Executive Committee from the Indian region.
Dr. D. Purandeshwari, MP (Lok Sabha), Commonwealth Women MPs (CWP) will pay attention to the meeting of the Sterling Committee. ,
He will also be a panelist in the CWP conference session on good practices and strategies to realize the ‘gender-sensitive parliament in the Commonwealth’.
Other members of the delegation, including the presiding officers of the state/UT assemblies, will also participate in the General Assembly of various workshops and conferences.
During this visit, Birla will also hold bilateral meetings and talk to other Commonwealth countries to discuss matters of mutual interest and parliamentary cooperation with its counterparts.
The statement said that the speaker is expected to meet Barbados’ leadership and interact with members of Indian migrants while staying in Barbados.
