Jammu, June 11: A fire extinguished inside the lobby area of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, property suffered significant damage today.
Official sources said that there was an explosion in the lobby of the old assembly building, where several photos of former governors and Lieutenant Governor were displayed.
These pictures were one of the objects destroyed in the fire, he said.
Sources said that flames also affected many couchs, chairs and other infrastructure, allegedly millions of rupees.
He said that fire and emergency services reached the spot and brought the situation under control after busy efforts.
Although the cause of the fire is not officially confirmed, preliminary reports suggest that it could be caused by a short circuit, the sources said.
There was no casualties in the incident.
Meanwhile, an inquiry has been initiated to find out the exact cause.
