liverpool Coach Gareth Taylor confirmed on Friday that goalkeeper Rafaela Berggraf had been handed a six-match ban by the Football Association following an investigation into racist comments. The player has been suspended for five games.

Giving reporters an update ahead of Sunday’s Women’s Super League match against Tottenham Hotspur, Taylor said: “We have some new understanding of the situation, in the sense that the FA have completed a thorough investigation. They have sanctioned the player with a six-match ban.”
He added that the ban “continues while we play,” meaning Berggraf won’t be able to play this weekend, but “after that it will be an option for her.”
Taylor expressed relief that the matter has now been resolved, saying: “We’re pleased that it’s now done… We’ve got some practical details and now we can all move on.”
The 25-year-old Berggraf joined Liverpool in July and has played three WSL games for the team, which currently ranks bottom in the league.
