But Slott believes he has acted in the best interests of the team by recalling Salah. Liverpool are struggling with injuries and fellow winger Cody Gakpo is out for several weeks.

Salah, who signed a lucrative two-year contract extension in April, Saudi Pro League clubs have attracted interest inWhile he has lost his place after scoring only five goals so far this season.

Slott had hinted on Tuesday night that he wanted to take the first step towards returning to the side, but then spoke with Salah on Friday.
