Liquor, drugs, weapons seized in Nanded, Maharashtra ahead of civic elections

Ahead of the municipal elections, enforcement agencies have seized a large quantity of liquor, ganja and some weapons in Maharashtra’s Nanded district, officials said.

He said that 929 people have been booked or thrown out under legal provisions.

Elections for 29 municipal corporations of the state including Nanded are to be held on January 15.

Election Code enforcement teams of the local civic body, in coordination with the state excise department, conducted several raids against the illegal sale of country and foreign liquor between December 15, 2025, and January 11, 2026.

Officials on Monday said they seized 441.24 liters of liquor and 2.2 kg of ganja and registered five cases in Nanded district.

He said that as part of the operation against illegal weapons, the police seized one pistol, one live cartridge, four daggers and seven swords.
