Srinagar, Oct 15 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday promised justice to the terror-hit families of Kupwara district, which has been one of the worst-hit districts due to the terror unleashed by Pakistan-backed terrorists in the 1990s.
Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha visited Dardpora and met the families of civilian martyrs killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
He also addressed the families of terror victims at Government Degree College, Kupwara and assured proper rehabilitation of the family members and strict punishment to the culprits.
The Lieutenant Governor said that justice, dignity and respect to the family members of civilian martyrs killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists is his top priority.
He said the criminal justice system will ensure that criminals and elements of the terrorist ecosystem are punished, thereby providing a sense of justice and closure to the victim’s family and society.
“I have assured the family members that their decades-long trauma, pain and suffering is over. We will ensure all support so that they can reclaim their lives,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He also observed that over the past three decades, families of civilian martyrs have gone through deep trauma, faced various challenges including unemployment and education, and felt a loss of hope.
The Lieutenant Governor said, “Families of civilians killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists also faced systemic barriers, which blocked their progress. They were denied their rights and access to resources. Now all barriers have been removed and we are ensuring justice and dignity for the families of terror victims.”
He paid tribute to the civilians brutally killed by Pakistan sponsored terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Families of terror victims also narrated their ordeal.
“It is difficult to express the pain and suffering of terror-affected families due to the deep emotional and psychological trauma they have caused, and the administration will handle each case with utmost sensitivity and responsibility.
The Lieutenant Governor said, “So far, around 250 terror affected families have been provided government jobs. This mission will continue until every affected family gets justice. This is the beginning of a new era of justice in Jammu and Kashmir.”
He also spoke on the MoU signed between High-Range Rural Development Society (HRDS India) and Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, under which houses for terrorist victims owning their land will be constructed.
Under the initiative, HRDS India and Divisional Commissioners of both the divisions will identify terror-affected families whose houses were destroyed by terrorists.
The Lieutenant Governor said that convicted Pakistani terrorists and their support network in the Valley ran a false narrative for three decades to absolve the terrorist state Pakistan of its sins.
“Pakistan, a breeding ground for terrorism, has now been exposed and those involved in spreading the fake narrative on behalf of terrorists will be brought to justice,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
