Lieutenant General Rajiv Gai appointed Deputy Chief Army Staff (Strategy); Will continue as dgmo

Lieutenant General Rajeev Gai, who was called by Director General of Pakistan’s Military Operations (DGMO), while puming the Pakistani airbase during India Operation Sindor, was arguing a ceasefire, arguing a ceasefire, on Monday as Deputy Chief of Army. He will continue the post of DGMO.

In a press briefing on May 12, a few days after the operation of operations with Pakistan after Operation Sindoor, Lieutenant General Gai outlined the preparations and coordinated response of the Indian Armed Forces.

Interestingly, now the Deputy Chief Army Staff (Strategy) used a cricket analogy, “Ashes to Ashes”, to describe how India employed its multi -level air defense systems to neutralize the air threats coming from Pakistan.

Earlier this year, Lieutenant General Gai visited Manipur around February 25 to assess the security situation in the state, especially with the Indo-Myanmar border (IMB). During his visit, he held meetings with the key state officials, including Manipur Governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, State Security Advisor, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police. The purpose of traveling to the struggling sector was to review the operational preparations of the Indian Army and assess the status of the ongoing border infrastructure projects.

Lieutenant General Gai, during his visit to Manipur, emphasized the importance of “the entire-government outlook” to manage security challenges in the region. According to a prior statement by the Ministry of Defense, focus on normalizing the prevailing situation, increasing border management and strengthening security infrastructure with IMB.

Lieutenant General Gai, a senior officer of the Kumaon Regiment, has played several major operating roles in his military career. As a GOC of Chiner Corps before becoming DGMO, he was at the forefront of operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
