Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar Indian Army Northern Command Command

Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar on Thursday abandoned the command of the Indian Army’s Northern Command after completing the four decades of luxurious career in the Indian Army.

In a serious ceremony on its departure, GOC-in-C paid tribute to the brave for his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Sainik School, Bijapur and NDA, an alumnus of Khadakwasla, the general officer was commissioned on 8 June 1985 at 1 Assam Regiment. He has a rich and versatile experience of traditional and counter terrorism/ rebel operations in the northern and eastern command theaters of the country. His command appointments were all in J&K, including a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, an Infantry Brigade, a Division and the command of a corps.

He appointed GOC-in-C, Northern Command on February 19, 2024. During his command, he provided strategic guidance and operational inspection for the plan and execution of continuous operation with the northern and western borders, besides the ministry, taking into account dynamic terrorism-attentive campaigns in Jammu and Kashmir.

He ensured boundaries and a balanced operating position over Hinterland. Under his leadership, training developed to align with changing operating mobility, preparing personnel for current and future challenges.

Under his command, efforts were also made to galvanize resources according to veteran engagement programs to assist veterans within the Northern Command areas, ‘Veer-Matas’ and ‘Veer Naris’. Other major areas of meditation under his leadership had the facility of youth empowerment and upliftment of youth, women empowerment and development to include ‘Gurjars’ and ‘Bakrawalas’ through Operation Sadhbhavan. Several infrastructure projects were launched for the upliftment of local communities.

In his farewell address, the general officer appreciated all the ranks for his selfless service and inspired him to continue his good work in the best traditions of the Indian Army. The Indian Army wishes the general officer and his family in its future efforts. (AI)
