New details about his cause of death have emerged, with a toxicology report revealing the 31-year-old singer had “multiple substances” in his system at the time of the incident, including a drug commonly known as “pink cocaine”. “

ABC News has confirmed that “pink cocaine” does not actually contain cocaine, but rather is typically a mixture of methamphetamine, ketamine and ecstasy, according to the National Capital Poison Center. Investigators also found a “simple aluminum pipe” in Payne’s hotel room that was allegedly used to smoke drugs.

Hotel staff had expressed concerns about Payne’s behavior before the fall. “Esteban,” the Buenos Aires hotel’s head receptionist, called 911 about the singer’s erratic behavior. According to Argentinian media reports nationthe receptionist reported, “We have a guest who is under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He is conscious but is vandalizing the room.” Although Payne’s name was not mentioned on the call, the situation had escalated.

Shortly after receiving the emergency call, Payne fell from a third-floor balcony and died. An autopsy confirmed he suffered injuries consistent with a fall from height, with the report detailing 25 injuries to his head, chest, abdomen and limbs. Head injuries and internal and external bleeding were identified as the main causes of death.
