Lg Manoj Sinha Visits GMC Jammu, Meets Kishtwar CloudBurst Victims

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to meet the victims injured in the recently injured in Kishtwar district. During his visit, he hoped for his fast recovery and detailed relief efforts.

Talking to reporters, LG Sinha said, “Everyone is stable, and I hope everyone will recover quickly and return home. The incident was very unfortunate and many people have lost their lives.”

He praised the authorities for his efforts, given that 32 persons are missing and search operations continue.

LG Sinha said, “The authorities worked hard to find the missing people; however, 32 people are still missing, and efforts are on to search for them.”

Regarding relief measures, Sinha said that Rs 4.13 crore has been distributed to the victims so far and has assured that the state and central governments will ensure rehabilitation of the affected families.

He said, “Relief and rehabilitation efforts are going on. The victims have been given Rs 4.13 crore so far. The JK government, as well as the center, will make a complete arrangement for the relief and rehabilitation of the affected families.”

He informed that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to come soon. “If the weather allows, he will go to the installment; otherwise, he will visit GMC Jammu and then return to Delhi.”

On August 14, a disastrous cloudburst during the Machal Mata Yatra, which claimed more than 50 lives.

Claudbsts suddenly caused flash floods during the pilgrimage, resulting in widespread destruction and deaths. NDRF, SDRF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CISF, teams of Indian Army and local administration are engaged in rescue efforts, which are now in their eighth day.

On August 20, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, “The missing persons seem to be almost impossible now. Under these circumstances, we will try to recover many bodies and hand over to our loved ones. According to the information received we have received so far, there was a disaster caused by a cloudburst and not for a glacial lake.” (AI)
