Srinagar, 06 July: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha participated in the 10th Muharram procession in Srinagar on Sunday, who attended the condolences in memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
LG Sinha went with mourning at Bota Kadal in the city on Sunday morning.
He was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir VK Bidhuri, Inspector General of Police Kashmir VK Burdi, SSP Srinagar and other senior civil and police officers.
The 10th day of Muharram, known as Ashura, holds deep religious significance to Muslims, especially the Shia community, who in the battle of Karbala, inspects it by remembering the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (AS) and their companions.
Earlier this week, the 8th Muharram, the administration, allowed traditional procession from Guru Bazar to Dalagate. The decision was widely welcomed by the Shia community, and many religious leaders thanked the administration.
