“Yeah, a good result – an amazing result for the team,” Hamilton thought after the race.
“Third and fourth, good points. It’s great to be ahead of the Mercedes team, to get those points and even ahead of McLaren. Definitely a positive thing.
“Keeping going after a bad start. There are a lot of positive things to learn from this and naturally I want to go further but we are definitely on the right track.”

Hamilton was then asked if he had any regrets over Ferrari’s strategy of sending Leclerc out on the soft tires first, but the 40-year-old decided to look at the overall positives of Ferrari’s gameplan.
“I think in the end it was clearly the fastest strategy,” he explained. “I was right with Charles before he stopped but being 10 seconds behind was a huge deficit for me to try to catch up and I couldn’t close the gap at all.
“It was a bit unfortunate but considering we’re not upgrading the car to be in the fight, it shows the team has done a great job this weekend. We’re very close but I haven’t got that podium and I’ll keep trying.”
