The Indian Air Force (IAF) sheltered 21 stranded citizens as rain and cut the road link to the Nubara Valley in Leh, Ladakh.
Road links to Nubara Valley have also been restored by the Indian Air Force.
Sharing an X post, Western Air Command, IAF wrote, “Rain and Madslides cut the road link for Nubra Valley yesterday. Despite being affected by itself, the Air Force Station gave shelter to 21 trapped citizens including five women for the night.
According to a press release by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), very heavy rainfall is predicted on Jammu and Kashmir during July 21-24, as well as heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand during 20-22 July, Himachal Pradesh during July 21-23 with the possibility of heavy rainfall on Punjab on July 20-21 July 20-21; Eastern Uttar Pradesh on 26 July, West Rajasthan on 20 July, East Rajasthan on 22-26 July, Haryana on 21-22 July.
Meanwhile, a comprehensive joint disaster management workshop and humanitarian aid and disaster relief (HADR) operations were recently held in Papum Pere district, which follows the comfortable coordination in India’s disaster management network.
In this exercise, the Ministry of Power Personnels were brought together along with resources from Spear Corps, Indian Air Force (IAF), ITBP, CRPF and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
The incident showed an integrated and flexible approach to address large-scale emergency situations, which laid special emphasis on remote and disaster-affected areas.
Among the notable dignitaries in attendance, the Deputy Commissioner of Papum Pere, Mr. A. Balan, members, Major General Ajay Kumar Verma (RTD), NDMA were senior advisors and senior officers representing NDRF, ITBP and Indian Army. His presence and the insight he contributed to further enriched the collaborative experience, providing invaluable guidance to the future operations.
This initiative has made significant progress in advancing inter-agency readiness for upcoming HADR missions. (AI)
