Srinagar, 17 May: Officials said that four residential houses were damaged in a huge fire incident in the Lal Bazaar area of Srinagar on Saturday evening, the officials said here.
While the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) teams managed to bring the Blaze under control, local residents, however, have accused the delayed response by the concerned department.
An official broke the news agency -Kashmir News Observer (KNO), The Fire, which exploded at around 6:15 pm, quickly spread through a group of houses in crowded areas.
He said that the first call was received at 6:17 pm, in which F&ES SORA and Novata’s initial fire units were sent. He said that soon reinforcement was also collected from Hazratbal, Safakdal and F&Y headquarters.
He said, “By 7:13 pm, the fire was brought under control, although the dassing operations were still going on,” he said.
The official also said that four fully involved three -storey residential houses suffered damage in the incident. “Fortunately, no injury or casualties have been reported,” he said.
However, local residents expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of arrival of fire service. “Despite repeated calls, the fire department’s initial response was delayed, despite repeated calls, more houses were attached.”
One of the residents said, “Swift intervention by the local police played an important role in preventing the fire from attaching additional structures,” said, “He is grate to the station house officer Mr. Ishfaq, who raised the teams and helped the local people to remove the fire before the fire service.”
