New Delhi,UPDATED: Mar 17, 2023 19:42 IST

By India Today World Desk: The Lahore High Court has granted protective bail to former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in seven cases. Khan appeared before the court seeking protective bail in nine cases, hours after another top court suspended non-bailable arrest warrants against the ousted premier till March 18.

Khan has been resisting arrest in the Toshakhana case and is holed up inside his Zaman Park residence in Lahore surrounded by hundreds of his supporters, who have fought pitched battles with the police over the past few days.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court suspended non-bailable arrest warrants issued against Khan till March 18, giving him a chance to appear before the district court which is hearing the Toshakhana case.

Khan has skipped several hearings in the case.

Ahead of the hearing today, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader Fawad Chaudhry tweeted that both parties have “agreed to resolve the issues” and the agreed solution would be presented in court.

Imran Khan has been in the crosshairs for buying gifts, including an expensive Graff wristwatch he had received as the premier at a discounted price from the state depository called Toshakhana, and selling them for profit.

The former prime minister was ousted from power last April after losing a no-confidence vote, which he alleged was part of a US-led conspiracy targeting him because of his independent foreign policy decisions involving Russia, China, and Afghanistan.
