New Delhi, November 10 (IANS) Union Minister for Labor and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya met Vice President CP Radhakrishnan at Parliament House on Monday. An officer gave this information.
An official said that during the meeting, the Vice President was apprised of the major initiatives and ongoing programs of the ministries.
The Vice President, who is preparing to attend his first Parliament session from December 1, has been regularly meeting ministers and officials.
Earlier, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Dr Jitendra Singh called on the Vice President along with senior officials of the ministries.
During the meeting, the Vice President was apprised of advances in scientific research and innovation, technology development and commercialization, biotechnology, quantum computing and cyber security systems as well as measures to promote meteorological services, climate and ocean studies and disaster risk mitigation.
Radhakrishnan commended the ministries for their role in strengthening India’s innovation-driven scientific ecosystem and pursuing research in cutting-edge technologies.
He lauded India for rising from 81st in 2015 to 38th in the Global Innovation Index 2025, noting the increase in patents, scientific publications and technology-led growth.
He lauded the country’s successes in vaccine development, the BharatZenAI large language model and advances in quantum computing.
The Vice President also stressed the importance of ethical biotechnology research, inspiring youth to pursue scientific careers and enhancing collaboration with industry.
Highlighting the rapid improvement in weather forecasting and the vast potential of India’s blue economy, he called for continued global partnerships to ensure that India remains at the forefront of scientific progress.
Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also met the Vice President.
In a social media post, the Vice President said he was briefed about the functioning, major initiatives and future plans of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
Radhakrishnan said the discussions focused on strengthening the tourism and hospitality sectors, enhancing international cooperation, generating employment and promoting India’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
