Srinagar, aug 10: Anti -terrorism operation in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir entered its 10th day on Sunday as security forces tried to squeeze Cordon around the terrorists.
“The operation is still in progress. The security forces are trying to close the hiding ultras,” said an official.
He said that terrorists seem to be high trained in forest war and are taking advantage of dense leaves to find out by drones.
Two army soldiers have been killed, while nine others have been injured as an encounter started in Akhl forest area of Kulgam on August 1, it is the longest anti-terror operation in the Kashmir Valley in recent years.
Two terrorists have also been killed in the encounter. The identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists have not yet been ascertained.
Officials said Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Nalin Prabhat and Army Northern Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, including senior police and army officials, are closely monitoring Operation Round-The-Clock.
Security forces have suppressed drones and helicopters in service to track terrorists in the forest area. Para commandos were also assisting security forces in neutralizing the hiding ultras.
