Bengaluru, 22 September (IANS) The Karnataka government has unveiled a local economy of Rs 1,000 crore to run innovation across the state and to catalyze development from Bangalore.
On Monday, according to an official statement of the Electronics Department, IT and BT, the program aims to promote innovation, make five million jobs, and to create strong startup ecosystems in Karnataka beyond Bengaluru.
Electronics, IT, and BT Department, detailed on its local economy accelerating program (Leap), with an ambitious outlay of Rs 1,000 crore in five years.
While Bangalore is a global technology hub, the worldwide number 10 in the worldwide and startup genome 2025 report in the Start Opported 2025 Index rank the number 14 globally. The leap as an initiative is about the overall, statewide development, the statement states.
Groups such as Mysuru-Chamarajanagar, Mangaluru -Dupi, Hubbali-Belagawi, Calaburagi, and Shivamgi converted him into a self-silver and globally competitive innovation hub.
Electronics, IT and BT, and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge said: “The leap is our commitment to ensure that the fruits of innovation have been shared in Karnataka. While Bangalore is a global power plant, when we strengthen entrepreneurs in Christ, the true capacity of the state will be unlocked.
“This is more than an investment in innovation of Rs 1,000 crore; it is an investment in a balanced, equitable and flexible economic future for the entire state, aiming to make 5 lakh jobs and Karnataka as a diverse global technology leader.”
Acrop Caur, Government Secretary, Electronics Department, IT, BT, and S&T, highlighted the strategic design of the program.

Electronics Department, IT, and BT informed the calls for proposals to set up innovation labs under the leap on 18 September, 2025. Further announcements confirm the launch of major initiatives such as hackathon, bootcamps, and construction of excellence centers.
The statement said that the leap is a transformational step towards the creation of Karnataka prepared for the future, ensuring that innovation and opportunities in every corner of the state flourish.
