The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler, who has already been penalized twice by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for celebrating on the field, has barred himself from repeating it in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match. Earlier, BCCI had severely punished Rana for excessive celebration on the field in the match against Delhi Capitals.
“Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Mr Harshit Rana has been fined 100 per cent of his match fee and suspended for one match for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 47 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Delhi Capitals. Has been done.” Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on April 29, 2024,” the BCCI had said in a release.
The KKR fast bowler was found guilty of committing a Level 1 offense under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Rana confessed to the crime and accepted the punishment.
“Rana has committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He has admitted the offense and has accepted the sanction of the Match Referee. For a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final.” And it is binding.” Read the statement further.
“The player had previously been punished under the same level and section of the IPL Code of Conduct,” it added.
It is not yet known whether the BCCI will take offense to Harshit Rana’s celebration against the Super Giants and give him another penalty.
