Kite distributes robotics kits to Lakshadweep schools

Kochi, September 18 (IANS) In a major step towards strengthening education in the island region, education (Kite) for Kerala’s infrastructure and technology, the technology branch of the General Education Department of Kerala has distributed robotics kits to schools in nine islands of Lakshadavip.

The objective of this initiative is to learn robotics and provide experience on hands for class 10 students after Kerala course.

These kit will help students learn science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in a fun and practical way.

A total of 100 robotics kits have been supplied with a kit allocated a kit for every three students to enable practical and interactive learning.

Along with distribution, Kite has launched a five-day training program for the High School ICT Teachers and District Institute of Education and Training (Diet) Faculty from Lakshadweep.

The sessions started on Thursday at the Kite’s Regional Resource Center. Kerala General Education Minister V. Shivakutty inaugurated the online program and confirmed the government’s commitment to bridge the educational gaps in the islands.

He said, “The Government of Kerala is committed to providing all the necessary resources including the latest technology to ensure that the students of Lakshadweep get the best possible education.”

The kits are designed to support the new “World of Robot” chapters at class 10 ICT textbook, allowing students to detect concepts such as circuit buildings, sensors, actuators and programming to control the equipment.

The initiative recently follows the AI ​​training program for postgraduate teachers in Lakshadweep.

Sadath also announced that the next phase would focus on training primary and upper primary teachers. Within Kerala, the kite has already distributed 29,000 robotics kits, requiring additional kits to purchase them directly with the arrangement of space for schools.

Since this year, robotics have become a subject in ICT syllabus for more than four million class 10 students in Kerala.

The new kits are powered by an ESP32 Devkit V1 Microcontroller.
